Metalcraft Lyons Pressed-Steel Zeppelin Kit!
Ca. 1928 vintage pressed steel Graf Zeppelin #880 model kit by Metalcraft / Erector Set
Description:
Original 1920’s steel airship (sometimes mistakenly called a Blimp) toy/model kit, by A.C. Gilbert and Co. Includes some rebuilt parts for components missing from the original model – the nose cap, (4) motor housings and propellers, 3 body panels, hanging bracket etc. Streamlined Design, Art Deco Machine Age era.
3) tail fins will have to be fabricated from sheet metal – easy to DIY with tin snips and a Dremel tool. The first photo shows an identical model (not included in this auction) for reference that I restored, which was in similar condition beforehand. BTW the finished model is missing the tail cap. The box is from the smaller airship #960.
Condition:
Good used condition, but needs restoration and assembly.
Size:
Finished model measures about 27” long x 5 1/2” in diameter, roughly 1:350 scale.
