pictorial guide to antique and vintage tin toys. Pictured and identified are
examples of carnival rides, race boats, ships, airplanes, busses and trolleys,
and more. Toy types include friction operated, battery operated, hand operated
and wind-up toys.
The author, Toyoji Takayama, who is a world famous collector of tin toys
introduces and classifies the most popular and familiar toys from his enormous
collection of over 12,000 items These toys were made by hand from an
unimaginable large number of pieces in the 1920’s to 1960’s with painstaking
care. The distinctive designs, colors and shapes of the different ages show us
one aspect of that time and evoke a sense of nostalgia.” Written in both
English and Japanese, the book provides the name, date, dimensions, and
manufacturer when known. Makers include Koukyu, A.T.D., Mitsuhashi, Yonezawa,
Alps, Toply, Haji, Bandai, Nikko, Daiya, Usagiya, Tomy, Masudaya, Marusan,
Asahi, Nomura, Zshi, Miura, Asakusa, Momoya, and many others. There is no price
